The liver is incredibly resilient, handling over 500 vital tasks. It filters blood, processes nutrients, detoxifies harmful substances, and produces bile for digestion. Ironically, its detox role can be misunderstood, often leading to the misuse of popular DIY detox drinks.
Trendy remedies like turmeric shots and apple cider vinegar mixes are marketed as detox solutions. While some ingredients can benefit health, there’s no solid proof they can cleanse the liver or fix damage. Dr. Sonal Asthana, a Senior Consultant at CARE Hospitals, explains, “The liver efficiently detoxifies itself. Many of these drinks are loaded with sugar, which can actually make fatty liver worse.”
