North Alabama Baseball Update: A Tough Game Against Lipscomb
This past Sunday, the University of North Alabama baseball team faced off against Lipscomb. Unfortunately, they lost 6-0 at Mike D. Lane Field. The team struggled at the plate, managing only four hits in 30 at-bats. Nash Rippen stood out, hitting two doubles and maintaining a streak of reaching base safely for 36 consecutive games.
Lipscomb’s pitching was relentless, with Collin Bosley-Smith and Jackson Lee combining for 12 strikeouts. Bosley-Smith earned the win, allowing just two hits over five innings and striking out eight. Lee closed the game with four strikeouts.
North Alabama used five pitchers in the matchup: John Allen Stogner, Tyler Rice, Gavin Oswald, Kelly Crumpton, and Hunter Bell. Rice and Crumpton showed promise by allowing only one hit and striking out three in two innings. Bell pitched the longest, going three innings while giving up one run and two hits.
Despite the loss, North Alabama remains in a strong position. They are still leading the Atlantic Sun Conference Gold Division, holding a one-game lead over Lipscomb, who entered the weekend with a solid .289 batting average. The Lions kept them below that mark during their series.
