Exciting News: Jasmine Nivar Joins Florida State University – A Bright Future Ahead!

Florida State women’s basketball head coach Brooke Wyckoff recently welcomed Jasmine Nivar to the Seminoles’ roster. Nivar arrives from Campbell, where she made a significant impact in her freshman year, earning the title of CAA Rookie of the Year in 2026.

According to Wyckoff, “Jasmine is a dynamic guard who affects the game in many ways. She’s quick, a strong shooter, and is tough on defense. We believe she will grow tremendously at Florida State.”

In the 2025-26 season, Nivar was a standout player, recognized on the CAA All-Rookie Team and the All-CAA Third Team. She collected eight CAA Rookie of the Week honors, ranking her third in CAA history for this achievement.

During her freshman year, Nivar played in 32 games, starting 31. She was the leading scorer for Campbell, averaging 11.4 points, along with 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. She showcased her scoring talent with three games over 20 points, including a personal best of 24 points against Elon.

Before her time at Campbell, Nivar was a four-time all-conference player at Apex Friendship High School, where she won conference player of the year honors. In her senior season, she led her team to a regular season and tournament championship, averaging an impressive 27.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 4.3 steals per game.

On the AAU circuit, Nivar played for the CP3 Flames, coached by Arne Morris. She was also active in other sports, including volleyball and track & field.

Nivar’s international experience includes representing Puerto Rico at the GLOBL JAM in 2025 and the FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship in 2024, where she averaged 7.2 points over six games.

Interestingly, Nivar’s sister Indya, a collegiate standout at North Carolina, was recently drafted 28th overall by the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA. This family connection adds another layer to Jasmine’s story as she steps into her new role at Florida State.

Excitement is building around her potential contributions alongside newcomers like Savannah Henderson and Asia Lee. It will be fascinating to see how Nivar’s skills translate to the bright lights of Florida State basketball.
