Transform Your Postpartum Care: Akshara Gowda Bikki Shares Affordable Stretch Mark Hacks with Expert Insights!

South Indian actress Akshara Gowda recently shared her experiences from her pregnancy. In a chat with HT Lifestyle, she opened up about her journey, focusing on her diet, fitness, and maintaining her skin. “During my pregnancy, my skin was quite nice. I didn’t have any acne at all!” she said. She also shared her tips for avoiding stretch marks. “I used various creams and thankfully, I don’t have any. For those on a budget, I have a simple tip from a friend,” Akshara revealed.

Her tip? Mix rose water and glycerin. “Apply this blend to your belly and keep going until you’re back to your pre-pregnancy weight. Your skin will continue to change for about three months after delivery, so keep applying it then too,” she suggested.

Dr. Mikki Singh, who runs Bodycraft Clinics in Bangalore and Gurgaon, added that glycerin is excellent for skin hydration. “It pulls moisture into the skin and prevents water from evaporating,” she explained. This helps keep the skin supple and healthy, which may help prevent new stretch marks, but it won’t erase the ones that have already formed.

Dr. Shareefa Chause, a dermatologist from Mumbai, described stretch marks as scars caused by stretching of the skin, often due to pregnancy or weight changes. She pointed out that while home remedies like rose water and glycerin are popular, they may not produce significant results. “There’s no scientific evidence that proves they can effectively reduce stretch marks,” she noted.

If you’re looking for more effective ways to reduce stretch marks, Dr. Singh recommends several professional treatments:

  • Laser Therapy: Boosts collagen and elastin for better skin texture.
  • Micro-Needling: Uses tiny needles to promote the skin’s natural healing process.
  • Chemical Peels: Exfoliates the skin, improving its texture and tone.
  • Radiofrequency Therapy: Stimulates collagen production and tightens the skin.

Remember, everyone’s skin is different, and results can vary. It’s best to consult with a skin care expert who can evaluate your skin type and recommend the best treatment options for you.
