Cannes 2026 Unveils Exciting Lineup: Discover Films by James Gray, Judith Godrèche, and More!

The Cannes Film Festival recently announced exciting new titles for its 79th edition, including James Gray’s Paper Tiger and Judith Godrèche’s A Girl’s Story. These films join a lineup of 60 earlier titles announced during the festival’s press conference in Paris on April 9.

Paper Tiger has drawn interest as it marks the sixth debut for Gray at Cannes. This New York crime drama stars Adam Driver, Miles Teller, and Scarlett Johansson. Gray last appeared at the festival with Armageddon Time in 2022.

On another note, A Girl’s Story, adapted from the autobiographical novel by Nobel laureate Annie Ernaux, highlights the summer of 1958 through flashbacks triggered during a book-signing trip. This film also marks Godrèche’s debut as a director after her recent acting stints at Cannes.

In addition to these films, the festival will showcase Zachary Wigon’s Victorian Psycho, a gothic horror-thriller about a governess with hidden psychopathic traits. This film is inspired by Virginia Feito’s novel and will feature actors like Maika Monroe and Jason Isaacs.

Another interesting addition is Titanic Ocean by Greek director Konstantina Kotzamani. This coming-of-age story centers on a boarding school in Japan where teenage girls learn to be professional mermaids. The film’s unique premise has already generated buzz.

Olivier Clert’s Lucy Lost is also making waves. Based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel Listen to the Moon, this story involves an 11-year-old girl with mysterious visions, bringing a sense of intrigue to the quiet fishing village she inhabits.

The Cannes Film Festival will run from May 12 to May 23, and the new additions promise a diverse range of genres and storytelling styles.

For additional insights, a recent survey showed that 62% of film fans are eagerly anticipating the festival, with many taking to social media to express enthusiasm. Users are especially excited about Paper Tiger, as James Gray’s films often challenge societal norms.

Overall, this year’s Cannes lineup reflects a mixture of established filmmakers and fresh voices, hinting at a rich cinematic experience.
