SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Concordia University Irvine men’s lacrosse team pulled off an incredible comeback against Colorado Mesa University, marking a thrilling chapter in their season.
Trailing 9-3 in the RMAC semifinals, the Golden Eagles showed remarkable grit. Just like their previous week’s win, they fought back fiercely in the second half. In a last-minute twist, Jeremy Barnes scored a game-tying goal with just two seconds left, making it 12-12.
Overtime proved intense. Just a minute in, Max Texter netted the game-winner, assisted by Matt Carresi, sealing a dramatic 13-12 victory. It was a sweet revenge; two years ago, the same teams faced off, with Colorado Mesa winning in overtime.
Carresi was a standout, scoring six goals and adding two assists. Barnes contributed three goals, while Gabriel Skegin-Sipes and freshman Erik Hollis each chipped in one. Dawson Loudermilk, named PacWest Freshman of the Year, had a notable performance at face offs, winning 12 out of 18. Goalie Brody Woods made 11 saves, improving his record to 6-3.
The Golden Eagles are now set to face the Westminster Griffins in the RMAC Championship Game on Sunday at noon PT.
