Tar Heels Shine at Lake Wheeler Invitational
The North Carolina rowing team made a strong showing at the Lake Wheeler Invitational, wrapping up the event with impressive performances on Saturday. Competing against 20 teams, UNC secured a fifth-place finish with a total of 63 points.
The day kicked off on a high note. The 4V8 boat won its race, finishing at 6:49.7, ahead of Boston College by six seconds. The 3V8 team also delivered an outstanding performance, recording the best time of the day at 6:32.5, triumphing over notable rivals like Virginia and Duke.
The 2V4 team achieved its fastest time of the weekend, clocking in at 7:16.1 for a second-place finish, again besting Duke. In the V4 race, UNC secured third place with a time of 7:15.8, finishing behind Virginia and Duke.
Another standout moment came from the 2V8 crew, who posted a time of 6:30.1, placing second in their race after defeating Duke. Finally, the V8 team finished fourth overall with a time of 6:22.7.
The Tar Heels are set to compete again at Lake Wheeler for the ACC Rowing Championships on May 15-16, 2026.
