Arkansas State Welcomes Jasmine Jackson to Women’s Basketball Team
Arkansas State’s women’s basketball team is set to gain a dynamic player with the addition of junior transfer Jasmine Jackson from Eastern Kentucky. Coach Destinee Rogers expressed her enthusiasm, highlighting Jackson’s ability to enhance the team’s offense. “She brings a new dynamic that we haven’t had,” Rogers said. “Jonesboro will love her!”
Jackson’s journey has been eventful. While at EKU, she played in 26 games, averaging 2.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in just six minutes per game. Her standout moment came against Bellarmine, where she scored 15 points in a single game, demonstrating her shooting talent with three successful three-pointers.
Before joining EKU, Jackson had an impressive freshman season at the University of Rio Grande. There, she led her team to a River States Conference Championship and a spot in the NAIA National Championship. Averaging 18.2 points and 14.0 rebounds per game, she earned First-Team All-RSC honors and was named Freshman of the Year.
Her high school career at Boyd County High in Kentucky was remarkable as well. She scored over 1,600 points and grabbed more than 1,000 rebounds. Jackson’s blend of size and mobility makes her a valuable addition to the team.
Experts agree that players like Jackson can change the dynamics of a team. According to a recent survey by the NCAA, teams with versatile players who can both score and rebound often perform better in their leagues. This trend is becoming increasingly important in modern basketball.
As fans eagerly anticipate Jackson’s impact on the court, the buzz on social media is growing. Many supporters are sharing their excitement on platforms like Twitter and Instagram, hoping to see her shine in upcoming games.
