Nebraska Athletics recently honored Rhonda Revelle by naming the softball field at Bowlin Stadium after her. This recognition comes after the Huskers secured a 13-0 win against Iowa in their final home game of the regular season.
Troy Dannen, the Athletic Director, praised Revelle, calling her one of the greatest coaches in college softball. He stated, “Rhonda Revelle is Nebraska Softball.” She has amassed over 1,200 wins, making her the most successful coach in the history of Nebraska athletics. In 2010, she was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Revelle has been at the helm of the Huskers since 1993. Under her leadership, the team has made 23 postseason appearances and reached the Women’s College World Series three times. Remarkably, she has been involved in over 75% of Nebraska’s softball history and every game at Bowlin Stadium since it opened in 2002. Alongside her longtime associate head coach, Lori Sippel, they’ve contributed to 90% of the team’s all-time victories.
Revelle also had a successful playing career. She was a three-year letterwinner at Nebraska and reached the Women’s College World Series in her time as a player.
This season, the Huskers finished with an impressive 40-6 record and a home-winning streak of 15-1 at Bowlin Stadium. Their games attracted an average of 2,610 fans, marking the highest attendance in school history.
This honor for Revelle highlights her dedicated coaching career and the significant impact she has made on Nebraska softball. As the program continues to thrive, her legacy will surely inspire future generations of athletes.
