HOUSTON — Aaron Boone, manager of the Yankees, was gearing up for a post-game chat when he heard rumors about Alex Cora, the Red Sox manager, being fired. At first, Boone wasn’t sure if it was true, but he soon got confirmation. The news shocked him.

Chivilli’s injury opened the door for Jake Bird to remain on the roster after Ryan Weathers returned from paternity leave. Bird made a strong impression, throwing a scoreless inning on Saturday.
On a brighter note, Boone was optimistic about Carlos Rodón, who recently made his first rehab start following elbow surgery. “He looked sharp,” Boone said, praising Rodón’s encouraging performance as he builds up to rejoining the rotation.
Historically, Daikin Park (formerly Minute Maid Park) has been tough for the Yankees, especially in playoffs. However, they’re currently enjoying a hot streak, boasting an impressive 11-1 record in their last 12 games here since September 1, 2023.
