Texas Women’s Tennis: A Season to Remember
The Concordia Texas women’s tennis team faced a tough challenge in the SCAC Championship. They entered the tournament as the second seed but fell short against the top-seeded, No. 24 Colorado College, losing 4-0.
Originally set for 9 AM at Schreiner University, the match was moved to Fair Oaks Tennis Courts, starting just after 5 PM. Despite this delay, the Tornados came into the final fresh off a nine-match winning streak, the longest in program history.
However, Colorado College quickly took control. They secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, giving them the early advantage. In singles matches, the Tigers continued to dominate, clinching the championship with straight-set wins at positions No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4.
Even though Concordia didn’t take home the title, their run this season showcased resilience and skill. It was a historic moment for the program, reinforcing their place among the top teams. “Though we didn’t win, our players showed great heart and teamwork throughout the season,” said Coach Sarah Connors, emphasizing the growth and dedication of her team.
