Earlier this year, Hearthstone hinted at an exciting change: Class Sets. Now, let’s dive into what they’re all about!
With Patch 35.4, mini-sets are taking a break. Instead, we’ll see Class Sets. These new sets replace mini-sets to bring freshness and innovation to the game.
What’s a Class Set?
A Class Set features a selection of new cards tailored for one specific class. Four Class Sets will be released at once, with three waves planned throughout the year. Unlike mini-sets that spread cards across all classes, Class Sets focus on fewer classes, giving each one a more significant boost.
For this initial release, the following classes are highlighted:
- Druid
- Hunter
- Paladin
- Mage
Each class gets cards designed to enhance its unique playstyle and encourage fresh deck-building strategies.
Why Make the Change?
This new format aims to achieve clear goals for the design team:
- Stronger Class Identity: Focusing on fewer classes allows each one to shine with a clear strategy.
- Noticeable Meta Changes: Concentrated releases will create immediate shifts, making it easy to see what’s new.
- Impactful Updates: Different classes will take turns in the spotlight, keeping the game dynamic.
If your favorite class isn’t in the first round, don’t worry. It will get its moment later in the year.
Preview of the Restoration of Azeroth Class Sets
This theme focuses on rebuilding following the devastation of Azeroth. The goal is rejuvenation and synergy among the newly released cards.
Here’s a sneak peek at each Class Set:
Druid Class Set: This set encourages patience, rewarding players who take the time to build their strategy. Cards like Wizened Wildspeaker offer payouts for delayed actions, incentivizing a long-term approach.
Hunter Class Set: Hunters focus on deepening bonds with their Animal Companions. New cards allow players to upgrade their pets, making them more powerful as the game progresses.
Paladin Class Set: Paladins aim to restore order by rebuilding communities. The set promotes developing small boards into large, formidable armies, allowing for quick and powerful plays.
Mage Class Set: Mages stabilize chaotic magic. New Leyline spells can be upgraded throughout the game, rewarding smart tactics and planning.
Acquiring Class Sets
Each Class Set comes with seven new cards: 1 Legendary, 2 Epics, 2 Rares, and 2 Commons. Players can buy them individually or as a bundle using various currencies.
Here are the options:
- Individual Class Set: $9.99 or equivalent in in-game currency.
- Bundle of all Class Sets: $19.99 with bonus items.
- Golden Bundle: All cards in a special gold edition for $79.99.
Class Set cards can also be found in CATACLYSM packs or crafted using dust.
When Do They Release?
The Restoration of Azeroth Class Sets launch with Patch 35.4 on May 5 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. New Class Sets will arrive after each expansion this year.
As Hearthstone tries this innovative approach, it invites players to explore the new possibilities. Your feedback and creativity will shape how these Class Sets evolve the game.
