The Jammu Tawi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express is set to launch its much-anticipated service on April 30, 2026. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will officially flag off the train from the Jammu Tawi railway station. The commercial ride kicks off on May 2, 2026, and it’s being managed by the Northern Railway zone.

In response to rising demand, the capacity of these trains has been doubled from 10 to 20 coaches. Built by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, these trains include features to withstand extreme cold, functioning even in temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius. They come equipped with advanced heating systems that keep water flowing in the plumbing and bio-toilets, preventing freezing during harsh winter months.
The driver’s cabin has a heated windshield to avoid fogging and ensure clear visibility, critical for safe travel in tough weather conditions.
