The Miami Grand Prix is facing potential disruptions from severe thunderstorms this Sunday, the day of the race. According to forecasts, heavy storms are expected to sweep across the city just hours before the event, which is set to kick off at 4 PM local time.
The storm system, which originated in the Rockies near Denver, will move southeast, impacting various states before reaching Florida. It will pass through Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi on Friday and Saturday, hitting the Florida panhandle that night. By Sunday morning, Miami could be facing heavy rain.
This isn’t the first time bad weather has influenced the Miami Grand Prix. In 2025, heavy thunderstorms delayed the Sprint race. Drivers struggled with slick conditions, and one even crashed on the way to the starting grid. Fortunately, the track dried quickly, allowing for a nearly normal race by the end.
Looking ahead, weather conditions seem more promising for other sessions. Practice, Sprint Qualifying, and the main Qualifying are expected to be dry, with temperatures hovering between the low to mid-30s Celsius.
