Get Ready for a Thrilling Ride: ‘Resident Evil’ Trailer Unveils Chilling New Vision by ‘Weapons’ Director Zach Cregger

Sony has just dropped the trailer for the new horror film “Resident Evil.” This movie takes inspiration from Capcom’s famous video game series. The script is crafted by Shay Hatten, and Zach Cregger, known for directing “Weapons,” is at the helm.

Unlike previous films, this one won’t feature iconic characters like Leon S. Kennedy or Jill Valentine. Instead, it focuses on a new character—a courier. While delivering a package, he becomes caught in the chaos of a Raccoon City outbreak.

The first “Resident Evil” game debuted in 1994 on PlayStation and eventually spread to many other platforms. Since then, the franchise has seen numerous sequels and remakes, including the recent “Resident Evil Requiem.”

The film series began in 2002 with Milla Jovovich starring in the original. She returned for several sequels, wrapping up the series in 2017 with “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.” The 2021 reboot, “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City,” was a fresh take on the story, written and directed by Johannes Roberts. Over the years, the franchise has raked in more than $1.2 billion at the box office.

The latest movie is produced by Constantin Film, with contributions from notable names like Roy Lee from Vertigo Entertainment and PlayStation Productions. Cregger’s past work includes titles like “Barbarian” and “Weapons,” which showcase his knack for thrilling storytelling.

With its unique storyline and fresh characters, the new “Resident Evil” promises to bring excitement to fans of horror. The film is set for release on September 18.
