ABC has just added two more series to its schedule for 2026-27: the revived comedies Scrubs and Shifting Gears. Both shows have been doing well on Wednesdays, with Shifting Gears starting the season strong and Scrubs making a comeback in the spring.
Shifting Gears, featuring Tim Allen and Kat Dennings, will begin its third season. This comedy topped ABC’s ratings for the season, grabbing an average of 5.4 million viewers live and climbing to about 7 million when including streaming. Tim Allen not only stars in the show but also serves as an executive producer alongside a talented team.
Meanwhile, the Scrubs revival is also getting a second season after making impressive viewer counts. It kicked off with 9 million viewers across platforms in its first week and grew to 11 million in total after 35 days. It was ABC’s top comedy among adults aged 18-49.
With these renewals, ABC has nearly locked in its entire lineup for the upcoming season. The only show still uncertain is the new drama R.J. Decker. Other returning shows include fan favorites like 911, Abbott Elementary, and Grey’s Anatomy.
