Exciting Achievements: Wheeling University’s Men’s Track & Field Celebrates Three All-MEC Honors!

Wheeling, W. Va. – The excitement from the 2026 Mountain East Conference (MEC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships is still buzzing. After the events concluded on Tuesday, top finishers received their well-deserved medals, marking their place on the podium. The Wheeling University Men’s Track & Field team shone bright, with three athletes earning All-MEC honors.

Freshman Alexander Rodriguez and sophomore Felix Manyani both secured First Team All-MEC honors, while Erick Berroa received a Second Team All-MEC nod.

Felix Manyani had a standout performance in Men’s Javelin, claiming his first All-MEC honor. He achieved a personal best of 60.63 meters, outthrowing his competitors by more than two meters. Manyani’s impressive throw ranked him 49th in NCAA Division II. He’s also the only Cardinal athlete to have hit an NCAA Provisional mark this season, qualifying him for the National Championship.

On the final day, Alexander Rodriguez took center stage in Men’s Pole Vault. He cleared 4.55 meters, winning him the conference title. His journey included a first attempt at 4.40 meters and then persistence at 4.55 meters, where he succeeded on his second try. Rodriguez also attempted a higher mark of 4.87 meters but fell just short. Notably, he completed a sweep of both indoor and outdoor pole vault titles this season.

Erick Berroa rounded out the honors by earning Second Team All-MEC in Men’s Javelin. He delivered a personal best throw of 57.06 meters, securing second place. This marked a significant improvement from last season when he narrowly missed out on podium placement. The javelin has emerged as a key event for the Cardinals, showcasing their strength throughout the season.

Wheeling University’s Men’s Track & Field team has now celebrated 65 All-Conference honors over the years. This marks their second consecutive season with multiple All-MEC honorees. The last team to receive recognition was the Wheeling Men’s Lacrosse team.

The team will soon be back in action at the Jesse Owens Classic on May 1st, with events kicking off at 11 AM. For ongoing updates and results, check the MEC’s official website for more information.
