Community Comes Together to Support Local Families
In Augusta, Georgia, the Salvation Army is teaming up with Frog & the Hen for a month-long donation drive this May. They’re collecting individually packaged snacks like granola bars, trail mix, chips, and drinks. These snacks will go into packs for local kids and families, giving them nourishment for school and work.
Every day, the Salvation Army serves around 100 people through meals and snack packs at its Center of Hope. This partnership isn’t just about gathering food; Frog & the Hen is also donating a portion of their Family Style Meal profits to the Salvation Army’s “Standing Together: Restoring Hope” campaign.
“By working together, we can tackle both immediate and long-term needs in our community,” said Major Jonathan Raymer, Area Commander of the Salvation Army. Breannah Newton, Director of Operations for Frog Hollow Hospitality Group, added that this effort helps families find stability through shared meals and support.
Residents can drop off donations at Frog & the Hen, the Center of Hope, the Kroc Center, or any Salvation Army Family Store. Additionally, people can contribute by shopping from the organization’s Amazon Wishlist, which delivers supplies directly to the shelter.
The spirit of giving can make a significant difference. According to a recent report by the Charity Navigator, community-driven campaigns like this can increase engagement and support, showing that local matters. In a world where many face food insecurity, even small contributions can have a big impact.
Together, the Augusta community is stepping up to help families thrive. Let’s keep this momentum going!
