Major Changes at Six Flags Magic Mountain: Popular Children’s Rides Closing in Southern California

Visitors hoping for a lively, animated experience at Six Flags Magic Mountain may want to plan ahead. This popular Valencia, California amusement park is transforming its Bugs Bunny World into Looney Tunes World, set to launch later this summer. As a result, several beloved rides are now closed for renovations.

According to the newly updated Magic Mountain Ride Closures page, ride closures include:

  • Merrie Melodies Carousel
  • Yosemite Sam’s Flight School
  • Elmer Fudd’s Weather Balloons
  • Daffy’s Adventure Tours
  • Taz’s Trucking Company
  • Looney Tunes Lodge
  • Canyon Blaster
  • Sylvester’s Pounce and Bounce
  • Pepe le Pew’s Tea Party
  • Whistlestop Train

The only ride remaining open in Bugs Bunny World is the Road Runner Express, a roller coaster for kids. Additionally, two rides outside of the transformation—Jet Stream and Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom—are temporarily closed but will reopen on May 23 in time for Memorial Day.

Originally announced in December 2025, the Looney Tunes World aims to evoke nostalgia from the Chuck Jones era of the beloved animated characters. Recent climate events, however, caused delays, necessitating rethinking the construction approach.

The new area will feature four themed zones, celebrating figures like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Taz, inviting families to explore together. One highlight will be the Bugs Bunny Play Park, where children can interact with characters in a playful setting. Notably, the Merrie Melodies Carousel is getting a fresh look to fit the new theme.

There’s also Taz-Mania, a vibrant area showcasing Taz’s chaotic creativity, and Road Runner Ridge, where Wile E. Coyote continues his endless pursuit of the speedy Road Runner. Guests can expect to see familiar cartoon elements, like painted tunnels and whimsical traps along the way.

In the Daffy Duck-themed Camp Duck Amuck, former attractions will transform to enhance the immersive experience, including new character interactions and themed rides. However, specific opening dates for the new attractions remain unannounced.

As amusement parks adapt to shifting preferences and trends, this overhaul aims to capture the charm of classic animation while catering to modern sensibilities. According to a recent survey by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, 70% of families prioritize immersive experiences at theme parks, indicating a growing desire for engaging, interactive environments.

With these updates, Six Flags Magic Mountain hopes to draw in both loyal fans and new visitors, keeping the spirit of Looney Tunes alive and well in a family-friendly setting.
