Some tickets for the UFC’s special event at the White House next month are priced at around $1.5 million (£1.1 million), according to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani. This event, called UFC Freedom 250, will take place on June 14 to celebrate 250 years of American independence.
UFC president Dana White shared that 4,300 people will be on the South Lawn, primarily military members. In addition, 85,000 tickets will be offered for free at nearby Ellipse Park, allowing more fans to join in the celebration. A select few “high rollers” will pay the hefty price for a luxury viewing experience.
Helwani noted that the ticket package includes various perks, such as a welcome reception, reserved seating, and access to UFC 329 floor tickets and a concert by Zak Brown.
This event involves high-profile fighters, with a main bout featuring Georgian-Spanish champion Ilia Topuria versus American interim champion Justin Gaethje. In the co-main event, Brazil’s Alex Pereira will take on France’s Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title.
Recently, Topuria and Gaethje even met with former President Donald Trump at the Oval Office. Topuria confidently expressed his intention to win and asked Trump why he was selecting Gaethje for such a challenging matchup. Trump replied that every fighter would face their “toughest test” at this event. Their interaction, filled with enthusiasm, showcased the excitement surrounding the fight.
The White House has seen various recreational events but this will be the first professional live sporting event hosted there. The UFC plans to invest about $60 million (£44.3 million) into making this event memorable.
According to recent statistics, the UFC’s popularity has surged in the last decade. In 2022, the organization reached over 1.1 billion views across its social media platforms, showing just how many fans are engaged with the sport today. As the UFC continues to grow, events like UFC Freedom 250 symbolize its cultural significance in America.
