Bengaluru and Mumbai are about to get a faster connection! A new Superfast train is set to launch in June, making it easier for travelers between these two bustling cities. This addition comes nearly 30 years after the Udyan Express first hit the tracks.
Union Minister Prahlad Joshi shared the news, explaining that this train will stop in key locations such as Tumakuru, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Belagavi. It aims to serve thousands of commuters and boost local businesses, enhancing trade and commerce in the region.
Railway experts believe this train will significantly improve travel times and passenger comfort. In fact, historical data shows that new rail lines can lead to increased economic activity in surrounding areas. For example, shortly after the introduction of the Rajdhani Express in 1969, cities along its route saw a notable rise in trade and tourism.
Moreover, there are plans to transform this Superfast route into a Vande Bharat Sleeper service soon. The Vande Bharat trains are known for their modern amenities and speed, making long-distance overnight journeys much more comfortable.
The Bengaluru-Mumbai service is being developed using technology from Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory, with a vibrant orange and grey design. This will mark the second Vande Bharat service in the country, emphasizing India’s commitment to modernizing its rail network.
