Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, recently opened the “Lakshya 2047” Centre for Future Skills at Parul University in New Delhi. This center includes facilities for advanced medical simulation and training in nine fields of emerging technology, certified by global institutions.
According to Dr. Singh, India is rapidly advancing in tech areas like Quantum Computing and AI. With nearly 70% of its population below 40, the country is positioned to be a global hub for skilled workers in the coming decades. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and adapting to new technologies, particularly in AI, cybersecurity, and semiconductors.
India’s efforts are not just about speed. The National Quantum Mission has already achieved impressive milestones, completing 1,000 km of secure quantum communication in just three years. This project aims to strengthen India’s tech infrastructure and build a robust ecosystem for innovation.
Furthermore, the government’s approach to education and innovation is inclusive. Programs support women scientists, marginalized communities, and young researchers, aiming to democratize access to research and scientific opportunities.
On AI, Dr. Singh highlighted the need for responsible use of technology, especially to benefit disadvantaged groups. India hosted the Global South AI Summit earlier this year, reinforcing this commitment.
Recent data shows India ranks third globally in the startup ecosystem, with over 100,000 patents, mainly from Indian residents. It also stands out in scientific publications, receiving growing international recognition.
As the nation moves toward its centenary of independence in 2047, Dr. Singh is optimistic. He believes the youth of today will be crucial in shaping this journey, driving India’s growth through innovation and skilled labor. The government aims to empower them to realize this vision.
