Boston University Softball Team Heads to Lubbock Regional
Boston University’s softball team, the reigning four-time Patriot League champions, is gearing up for the NCAA tournament. They’ll compete in the double elimination Lubbock Regional from May 15-17, hosted by Texas Tech, the 2025 national runner-up.
BU is the third seed in this regional, sporting an impressive record of 46 wins and 13 losses. They will kick off the tournament against Ole Miss, who earned an at-large bid from the Southeastern Conference. The game is set for Friday at 2 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPNU. Meanwhile, Texas Tech, the number 11 seed nationally, will face MAAC champion Marist shortly after.
This marks BU’s ninth appearance in the NCAA tournament, and they’ll be visiting the Southwest for the fifth time in seven tournaments. In previous years, they faced tough competition, including national champion Oklahoma.
Currently, the Terriers are on a 12-game winning streak. They’ll be facing Ole Miss for the first time ever, which adds some excitement to this matchup. Historically, BU played Texas Tech once in 2011, losing 4-0, but they have had better luck against Marist, with a win in their last encounter.
Winning in Lubbock could propel the Terriers to the Super Regionals, where they would go up against the winner of the Gainesville Regional, hosted by the sixth-seed Florida.
