Lucknow recently hosted the All India Police Badminton Cluster Championship 2025-26, inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This event brought together about 1,400 athletes from police and paramilitary forces across the country, creating a festive atmosphere filled with competition and camaraderie.
The championship, held at the Babu Banarasi Das UP Badminton Academy, ran from May 9 to 13. It featured badminton and table tennis contests, showcasing talent from various states, including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. During the opening ceremony, CM Adityanath introduced a special souvenir, “Sfurti,” celebrating the event’s significance and participants. He highlighted the role of sports in nation-building, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a united India. Adityanath stated that sports can instill discipline and teamwork, qualities essential for effective policing.
The feedback from participating athletes has been overwhelmingly positive. Many praised the Uttar Pradesh government’s organization and hospitality, noting the excellent facilities and smooth tournament execution. Athletes from Gujarat expressed their appreciation, describing Lucknow as a welcoming host city.
A highlight of the opening was a performance by the 35th Battalion PAC Band, which added an energetic vibe, further enhancing the spirit of the event.
