Founded in 2023 by Alexander Durand and his partners, Mountain Table quickly became known for its organic coffee, farm-to-table meals, and local market offerings. As a finalist in the 2025 Pitch Southern West Virginia Business Idea Competition, the team is now excited to serve festival-goers and event attendees throughout the region.

Wild Vittles aims to provide the same fresh, high-quality food that customers love at Mountain Table. The team plans to participate in events like Pickle Fest and the Strawberry Festival in Alderson, allowing them to reach new customers while promoting local agriculture.

Durand collaborates closely with partners Nicole Petschulat, Nadine Sonneville, and Aidan Sullivan, who drives operations for Wild Vittles. This teamwork has created a flexible business model that supports both their storefront and mobile initiatives.

Mountain Table prioritizes sourcing ingredients from regional farmers. They offer fresh meats, eggs, raw milk, and other value-added products. This commitment to local producers not only enhances the menu but strengthens community ties.

Durand aims to boost coffee roasting operations to 10,000 pounds annually while continuing to host special events like wine pairings and community dinners. The success of Wild Vittles was bolstered by funding from the WV Hive, aiding in critical infrastructure like refrigeration and beverage systems, helping them meet the demands of larger events.

“The WV Hive has played a big role in our growth,” Durand explains. “They’ve provided essential support, enabling us to expand our reach and refine our business.” Devon Fitzgerald, a Regional Business Advisor with the WV Hive, praised the team for adapting their business effectively to serve their community and goals.

Currently, Mountain Table employs seven full-time and four part-time staff members. “As we grow, we hope to create more jobs,” Durand adds. In five years, Mountain Table envisions adding another food truck, expanding markets, and possibly opening a new café to extend their reach across West Virginia.

Durand emphasizes the importance of scaling the business while maintaining its identity. “We want to ensure our growth supports both our employees and local farmers,” he notes. His focus on community involvement also reflects a broader trend; recent studies show that businesses prioritizing local sourcing often see increased customer loyalty and support.
