University of Michigan Rowing Achievements at Big Ten Championship
The University of Michigan rowing team had a strong performance at the Big Ten Championship, finishing fourth overall. Three standout student-athletes received All-Conference honors for their efforts.
Coxswain Logan Roeder earned first-team accolades. This is her first Big Ten recognition, and she’s been a key player for the top varsity eight boats. Over her career, Roeder has earned one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal at the championships. This spring, she’s led her team with impressive skills, making her a valuable asset.
Rowers Madeleine Lauriault and Jana Peachey each earned second-team honors. For Lauriault, this is also her first All-Conference recognition. She has previously won gold and bronze medals in the 2V8 category and has played a significant role in two championship teams from 2023-24. This season, she has been a vital member of the 1V8.
Peachey, however, brings experience as this marks her second All-Big Ten recognition. She has won two gold medals in the 1V8 and has been a consistent performer, often rowing in the fourth seat of the team.
In addition to individual awards, the team highlighted sportsmanship with Maddy Matos being recognized for her contributions.
As the champions of the conference, Washington is the only team with an automatic entry into the upcoming NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 29-31 in Atlanta. The Wolverines are now waiting to find out if they will be selected to compete.
Rowing continues to grow as a sport, with a recent surge of interest reflected in social media discussions and local support. As more athletes like Roeder, Lauriault, and Peachey shine, the future of Michigan rowing looks promising.
