Siena University Celebrates Its Inaugural Graduating Class: A Milestone Moment!

Siena University celebrated its Class of 2026 graduates today at MVP Arena, marking a new chapter under its updated name. Students walked across the stage, each one excited yet emotional about the future ahead.

Many graduates shared their hopes and plans. Lexie Denis, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Childhood Education, expressed confidence in her skills, especially as there’s a significant teacher shortage right now. “I’m eager to enter the job market and make valuable connections,” she said.

Taylor Robinson, a Bachelor of Arts graduate in English, is looking into a career in education. She already has experience as a substitute teacher, giving her an edge in the field. “I’m really excited about my next steps,” she noted.

University President Chuck Seifert emphasized the importance of community at Siena. This past year has shown how students and faculty come together to support one another. He highlighted the significance of having a degree, especially in today’s unpredictable job market.

“The value of a college degree is about more than just the diploma,” Seifert remarked. “We also focus on what we call ‘power skills’—like emotional intelligence, compassion, and critical thinking. These skills are always in demand.”

A report from the National Center for Education Statistics indicates that a bachelor’s degree holder earns about 66% more than someone with just a high school diploma. This shows the lasting value of higher education, especially in an economy that can be tricky to navigate.

As graduates leave Siena, they carry not just their degrees but also the essential skills that will help them thrive in their future careers.
