ShopRite’s Annual Partners in Caring Contest Raises .34M to Combat Food Insecurity—Insights and Impact | ROI-NJ

The ShopRite Partners in Caring Cheerios Contest, backed by General Mills, has made a big splash this year, raising over $1.34 million. This annual event highlights the efforts of dedicated associates from various stores, who are recognized on limited-edition Cheerios boxes. This year’s theme, “We Give Back Here,” celebrated the significant contributions of 120 associates who were honored with commemorative boxes and special in-store celebrations.

ShopRite of Newton took the crown for the highest fundraising totals for 2026, closely followed by ShopRite of Brodheadsville in Pennsylvania. Other standout stores included ShopRite of Ramsey, ShopRite of Yardley, and ShopRite of Chews Landing.

Alexandra Emery, the manager of Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility for ShopRite, emphasizes that the contest is more than just fundraising; it’s a way for store teams to bond with the community. “They know how crucial it is to support food banks and pantries, ensuring families can access nutritious food,” she explains.

Each September, during Hunger Action Month, ShopRite associates ramp up their efforts to combat food insecurity. They collect donations at checkout and host various in-store events, actively engaging their local communities to support hunger-fighting organizations.

According to recent data from Feeding America, one in ten people in the U.S. struggle with hunger. Community initiatives like the Cheerios Contest not only raise funds but also raise awareness of this pressing issue. The campaign encourages a spirit of giving, and it shows how collective efforts can make a real difference.
