Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, and Larry Phillips are about to be honored in the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Recently, a voting panel gathered at the Charlotte Convention Center to select the Class of 2027 inductees from a list of 15 nominees. This panel is made up of Hall of Fame members, track owners, media representatives, and even the current Cup Series champion, Kyle Larson. Fans also had a say with a combined vote through NASCAR.com.
The accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) handled the vote counting. Harvick received an impressive 92% of the votes on the Modern Era ballot, while Burton garnered 32%. Other names that received votes include Neil Bonnett, Randy Dorton, and Greg Biffle. Phillips, known for his extensive short track and dirt track achievements, secured 38% on the Pioneer ballot.
The Class of 2027 also includes notable drivers like Biffle, Bonnett, Tim Brewer, and Ray Fox among others. This year marks a major achievement for Harvick, who clinched a Cup Series champion title in 2014 and has won a total of 60 races at the highest level, which features historic wins like the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400.
Burton’s career is highlighted by 21 Cup Series victories. After retiring in 2013, he transitioned to a role as a driver analyst for NBC Sports and has acted as a liaison between drivers and NASCAR. Phillips, on the other hand, is a legend in short track racing, with over 1,000 sanctioned wins.
Additionally, Lesa France Kennedy will receive the Landmark Award for her significant contributions to NASCAR, joining a long list of influential figures in the sport.
The induction ceremony will take place on January 22, 2027, at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. This celebration not only recognizes individual achievements but also reflects the sport’s growth and evolution over the decades.
According to a recent survey by the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing, around 75% of fans believe that the Hall of Fame plays a crucial role in preserving NASCAR history. This highlights how much the fans value the recognition of these legends.
