Goodbye to Big Ski’s Pierogis
Big Ski’s Pierogis, a beloved food truck in Bend, is closing its doors at the end of 2026. Owner Rich Winiarski, who moved from Connecticut, has spent 12 years sharing his Polish heritage through delicious pierogis. Flavors like serrano-habanero and bacon-onion have made it a local favorite. Rich’s love for food stems from traditions like Wigilia, a special Polish Christmas Eve meal featuring pierogis. The truck is currently located at The Podski on NW Arizona Avenue and plans to stay open until the end of the year.
What’s New at Crux Fermentation?
A Broken Angel, a vegan food truck, has moved from NE Second Street to Crux Fermentation Project. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, it offers a diverse menu that includes tacos, enchiladas, and hearty brunch items like potato hash and biscuits with gravy.
Another newcomer, Alpine Smash, specializes in smash burgers. With options like the spicy smash and kids smash, it also offers tasty fries. The team behind Alpine Smash also runs several other popular eateries in the area, including Pine Marten Pizza and Sandos.
Mountain Mahalo, serving shave ice, is set to bring a taste of the tropics to Crux this summer. Their mission is to create moments of joy, reminding customers of the slow-paced life in Hawai’i and Central Oregon. You can find them at the Northwest Crossing Saturday Farmers Market too.
Additionally, Red Road Pizza Co has relocated to Crux, featuring thin crust pizzas. The name pays homage to the Cascade Lakes Highway, which was originally paved with distinctive red volcanic cinder.
Crux is celebrating its revamped outdoor space on June 6 with music and a vintage clothing event. It promises to be a fun gathering for the community!
