Tripadvisor is undergoing some major changes. Recently, the company let go of over 150 employees and contractors. Following this move, President Kristen Dalton shared news about two executive departures in an internal email.
Billie Sue Chafins, the chief technology officer, is leaving after just 14 months in her role. The email did not specify the reason for her departure. Meanwhile, Kent Sands, the general manager of e-commerce, plans to step down to dedicate more time to his family. Sands has been with Tripadvisor for over 11 years and has led various initiatives, including experiences and restaurant services.
Both Chafins and Sands reported directly to Dalton. In her message, Dalton emphasized that Tripadvisor is “at an inflection point.” She mentioned the need to reevaluate the roles within the company for better alignment and decision-making.
Other Leadership Updates
The email also announced several other leadership changes:
- Gwyn Fisher is stepping into the role of head of engineering and chief architect, after serving as VP of engineering since March 2020.
- Dan Mitchell will expand his responsibilities as he transitions to general manager of core businesses, having been general manager and vice president of hotel auction for five years.
- Nathan Seitzman will take on the role of general manager of growth, focusing on the app and membership, after two years as vice president of strategy and transformation.
- Kat Krieger will also see her role expand as a senior director of strategy and transformation.
Dalton’s email indicated that the leadership team will answer questions from employees about these changes on February 10.
