WILMINGTON, N.C. – Campbell baseball kicked off the CAA Championship with a solid 3-1 victory over UNCW, led by standout pitcher David Rossow.
This win marked a milestone for the team, as it was their 40th of the season—the first time they’ve hit that mark since 2023. Rossow shone on the mound, pitching 7.2 innings and allowing just one run on six hits while striking out seven. With this performance, he achieved his 10th win of the season, which ties him for third-most in a single season for Campbell. Additionally, Rossow joined an elite group as he became only the fifth Camel pitcher to reach 100 strikeouts in a season.
The game kicked off with Campbell scoring in the fourth inning when Jonah Oster hit his 12th home run of the season, taking the lead at 1-0. The Camels added to their lead in the fifth, scoring twice after three hits, bringing the score to 3-0.
Even though UNCW found the scoreboard with a run in the eighth inning, it wasn’t enough to change the outcome. Oster was the standout hitter, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Braxton Shaffer closed the game with a save, striking out the final batter.
Next, the Camels will take on the winner of the Northeastern vs. Hofstra game at 7 p.m. on Friday, which will also be streamed on FloCollege.
