New limits have been introduced for Google’s Gemini AI models. After some user pushback, Google has increased these limits for the Antigravity tool—twice.
At the recent Google I/O event, it was announced that Gemini would implement usage restrictions for its tools. Many users expressed frustration about these limits. In response, Google acted quickly to address concerns, particularly for Antigravity, an AI-powered coding assistant.
Initially, when the limits were set, users found they could reach them in just an hour of using Antigravity. This was a stark contrast to previous usage. To alleviate these issues, Google increased the limits by three times and reset weekly quotas for all users just days after they were enforced.
Later in the week, Google again raised the usage limits for Antigravity. Varun Mohan, a director at DeepMind, recognized that users were hitting their caps after only a few coding sessions. This second round of adjustments aims to ensure that users can maximize their experience without being cut off too soon.
Despite these changes, concerns remain. The new limits are still below what they were before the changes were made. Users have noted that while these adjustments help, the overall restrictions on the Gemini suite of tools haven’t shifted outside of Antigravity, which means limits could still hinder productivity.
A recent survey showed that over 60% of users reported feeling constrained by the old limits. This feedback highlights the importance of balancing accessibility with system capacity as AI tools evolve. As technology continues to move forward, user feedback will be critical for companies like Google to refine their offerings.
