Southern Illinois University Athletics Welcomes Star Recruit Mora to 2026 Volleyball Roster!

Southern Illinois University Women’s Volleyball has welcomed a new player, Carlota Mora, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from Madrid, Spain. Mora joins the team after her time at Ranger College, where she showcased impressive skills on the court.

Mora had a standout season in 2025, appearing in 27 matches and playing 94 sets. During that time, she achieved 206 kills and made 152 digs, showcasing her versatility. In the preceding 2024 season, she played in 29 matches, contributing 171 kills, 168 digs, and 21 service aces.

Coach Brittany Harry expressed excitement about adding Mora to the roster. “We’re thrilled to have her join the Saluki family. Her experience and skills will add valuable depth to our team,” she said.

Mora’s international background and competitive play at Ranger College position her to make an immediate impact. The fusion of her European style and the competitive spirit of the Salukis could create a powerful combination on the court.

Recent trends in collegiate athletics show a growing emphasis on international recruits. In fact, a report from the NCAA indicates that the number of international student-athletes has increased by over 25% in the last decade. This trend not only enriches the team’s talent but also promotes cultural exchange.

Fans can keep up with all things Saluki through their social media accounts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. For updates and news, downloading the Salukis mobile app is also a great option.

As the season approaches, all eyes will be on Mora and how she contributes to the Saluki’s journey.
