In a recent announcement, the Bears confirmed they are focusing on two spots: Arlington Heights and Hammond, Indiana. Team president Kevin Warren mentioned that he hopes to reveal the new stadium site soon, calling both potential locations “excellent.”
Both Illinois and Indiana are eager to bring the franchise to their states. In Indiana, lawmakers have created a Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority aimed at financing a new domed stadium. This action has prompted Illinois to offer substantial tax breaks on large construction projects, hoping to keep the Bears in Arlington Heights.
Arlington Heights is about 40 minutes from Soldier Field, the Bears’ home since 1921. The team has a long history in Illinois, and moving would be a monumental shift for fans.
Looking ahead, the Bears aim for a strong 2026 season. Quarterback Caleb Williams had an impressive year, throwing for nearly 4,000 yards and rushing for 388 more. He tallied 23 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. To bolster their defense, the team signed Coby Bryant to a hefty contract and added experienced linebacker Devin Bush.
However, the Bears could face challenges ahead. They have the toughest schedule in the league this season, based on last year’s records. This means every game will be a test.
