CLEVELAND (AP) — The New York Knicks are just one win away from reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999. They beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 121-108, with Jalen Brunson leading the way with 30 points.
The Knicks have been on a roll, winning ten straight games this postseason. Only six other teams in NBA history have achieved this feat. The last team to do it was the Boston Celtics in 2024. Remarkably, most of the Knicks’ victories have been by a large margin, averaging 22.5 points per win.
Knicks fans were energetic, chanting “Knicks in four” as the game wound down. Their team played with great focus and confidence. Coach Mike Brown praised his players, emphasizing their fast-paced style and improved defense.
Cleveland struggled, with Evan Mobley the top scorer at 24 points. The Cavaliers had difficulties, especially with their three-point shooting, making only 12 of 41 attempts.
Despite the presence of celebrities like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, the Cavaliers couldn’t find their rhythm. Coach Kenny Atkinson noted that the Knicks’ physicality was a challenge.
In a crucial moment, Landry Shamet scored three quick three-pointers, helping pull the Knicks ahead by 11 points in the fourth quarter.
The Knicks aim to close out the series in Game 4 on Monday. With their momentum and strong performances, they seem determined to make their mark in the playoffs.
