Connecting Kutch to Delhi: Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Unveils New Bhuj–Delhi Express Train for Enhanced Rail Connectivity

Gujarat: The Bhuj–Delhi Express train service launched on May 22, thanks to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. This new route improves travel between Kutch in Gujarat and India’s capital.

Patel thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vaishnaw for their roles in enhancing Gujarat’s railway systems. He pointed to recent projects like the Ahmedabad–Dholera Semi High-Speed Rail Project, which aims to modernize transport in the region.

The Chief Minister noted that Indian Railways has seen substantial changes over the past decade under Modi’s leadership. For instance, the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project is a major milestone in India’s quest for faster trains.

Since 2014, Gujarat has added nearly 2,900 kilometers of new railway tracks. Around ₹1.28 lakh crore is being invested in railway projects across the state, indicating a rapid expansion. The railway budget for Gujarat increased by 29% compared to 2014, totaling ₹17,366 crore.

Gujarat has also received several modern train services, including five Vande Bharat trains, as part of central government efforts. This has notably improved access to Ekta Nagar, home to the popular Statue of Unity.

Patel expressed optimism that these upgrades would help achieve the vision of “Viksit Bharat,” or a Developed India. He believes these developments will strengthen national growth during this transformative period.

The launch event drew various dignitaries, including Minister of State Trikam Chhanga and local MPs, showing wide support for the new train service.
