Shorter University has teamed up with Kennesaw State University (KSU) to offer a unique opportunity: students can now earn two bachelor’s degrees simultaneously. This partnership allows students to receive a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Shorter University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from KSU, which boasts the second-largest engineering college in Georgia.
This initiative is part of KSU’s LINK program, aimed at creating smoother academic paths between schools. It helps students navigate their education more effectively, giving them access to a wider range of degree options.
Dr. John Reams, Provost of Shorter University, said, “This partnership is a fantastic opportunity for our students. We’re excited to work with Kennesaw State to prepare our students for careers in engineering and mathematics.”
Students enrolled in this program will take 45 credit hours at Shorter before transferring to KSU. The courses are designed to ensure that credits transfer smoothly, keeping students on track for graduation. Once they complete their requirements at Shorter, they will receive their mathematics degree before finishing their engineering degree at KSU.
A recent survey showed that about 60% of students are interested in programs that allow for dual degrees, highlighting the increasing demand for such educational models. This partnership not only responds to that demand but also enhances the educational landscape in Georgia.
