Kroger has announced a significant recall of several food products from its stores in at least 15 states. This includes items from some of its subsidiaries. The recall began in early February and involves various products that might pose safety risks.
King Harvest Hummus Recall
Some Kroger subsidiary stores, like Fred Meyer and QFC, recalled these King Harvest hummus tubs:
- Lemon Hummus, 10 oz
- Classic Hummus, 10 oz
- Roasted Garlic Hummus, 10 oz
- Toasted Onion Hummus, 10 oz
- Chipotle Hummus, 10 oz
- Spinach Hummus, 10 oz
- Black Olive Hummus, 10 oz
- Sesame Hummus, 10 oz
- Jalapeño Hummus, 10 oz
- Balsamic Hummus, 10 oz
- Sun Dried Tomato Hummus, 10 oz
- Roasted Pepper Hummus, 10 oz
The recall was prompted by a concern about potential plastic pieces inside the containers. Customers are advised not to eat these products. This issue was initially reported on February 5, 2025, but it’s worth noting that King Harvest had a similar recall in September 2024. It’s unclear if the current recall is connected to the earlier one.
DJs Boudain Products Recall
Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana also recalled DJs Boudain products due to contamination concerns:
- Hot Jalapeño Boudain, 12 oz
- Boudain Sausage, 24 oz
- Boudain Sausage, 16 oz
This recall was part of a larger alert from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), affecting around 17,720 pounds of boudain sausage links because of possible contamination with pen pieces. The items were removed from the shelves on February 1.
Gerber Teething Products Recall
Two Gerber products meant for teething children were also recalled from Kroger stores in several states, including Ohio, Virginia, and Texas. The products involved are:
- Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks, Banana, 3.2 oz
- Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks, Strawberry Apple, 3.2 oz
These were pulled due to potential choking hazards. Kroger assures that customers can return these items for a full refund. This recall became widely publicized after reports of choking incidents were received, leading to a nationwide alert from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In a statement, Gerber expressed their regret over the situation and emphasized the importance of child safety. They have addressed concerns and are taking necessary steps to ensure such incidents do not happen again.
