Hilton is making strides in the Yangtze River Delta region of China. They’ve signed contracts for two new lifestyle hotels—one in Nanjing and another in Wuxi. This is part of their plan to meet the rising demand for unique travel experiences.
Nong Xia, Hilton’s President of Development for Greater China and Mongolia, highlighted the cultural richness of Jiangsu province. “Nanjing and Wuxi have strong tourism appeal,” Xia said. With a focus on creating distinctive, experience-driven hotels, Hilton aims to cater to guests’ personalized needs while providing lasting value for hotel owners.
The Curio Collection by Hilton will debut in Nanjing, specifically in the Xianlin area. This 232-room hotel will showcase local culture and is expected to open in 2028. As Hilton’s lifestyle brand, Curio offers hotels designed with unique character and individuality.
In Wuxi, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel will also open, turning an existing U-shaped building into a vibrant 150-room venue. This will be the first Tapestry Collection hotel in the Yangtze River Delta when it opens in 2028. Tapestry hotels aim to provide an independent vibe while resonating with the local community.
Hilton’s growth isn’t just about these new hotels; it reflects a broader trend. In the past year, the company has opened other lifestyle properties such as Canopy by Hilton Shanghai and Motto by Hilton Hong Kong. This growth is key for Hilton as they aim to have 250 luxury and lifestyle hotels across Asia Pacific.
The rise in lifestyle hotels is significant. A report from Statista shows that more travelers, especially younger ones, prefer hotels that offer personalized experiences over generic stays. This trend suggests that Hilton is on the right track in expanding its lifestyle portfolio.
In sum, Hilton’s new ventures in Nanjing and Wuxi underscore a growing focus on experience-based travel. As they continue to invest in local culture and unique designs, they seek to captivate the modern traveler.
