Pittsburg State University’s D2CCA All-American Trio: Celebrating Our Stellar Gorilla Athletes!

Pittsburg State University just celebrated an exciting achievement in softball! Three standout players from the 2026 team received All-American honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) on May 27. Lexi Davis made the first team, while Heather Arnett and Kadyn Trochim secured spots on the second team.

Heather Arnett, hailing from Pittsburg, Kansas, has achieved All-American status three times. She was a first-team member in 2024 and 2026 and made second team in 2025. In her final collegiate season, she truly shone, boasting an impressive .525 batting average with 114 hits and 81 runs scored. She also swiped 38 bases and drove in 39 runs. Her performance placed her as a leader in Division II, ranking third in season hits and tied for fourth in career hits at 374. Historical stats show her as seventh in career runs scored, making her one of the greats in Division II history.

Lexi Davis, recognized as the Catcher of the Year by the NFCA, finished with a strong .400 batting average and set a school record with 82 runs batted in. This achievement marks the second-highest RBI total in MIAA history, along with her 14 home runs and 70 hits. Her on-base percentage and slugging statistics contributed to an impressive OPS of 1.254, topping her team’s performance.

Kadyn Trochim, from Waco, Texas, also earned her second All-American honor. In her latest season, she delivered a stellar .446 batting average, notching 78 hits and driving in 76 runs. Defensively, she excelled at third base with a .965 fielding percentage, tallying 47 putouts and 64 assists. Her career statistics at Pittsburg State are impressive: she played in 219 games, scored 122 runs, and accumulated 197 hits.

These athletes’ achievements underscore the growing talent in collegiate softball. According to a recent NCAA report, female participation in college sports has increased by nearly 10% over the last decade, highlighting the significant progress in women’s athletics. With every passing year, players like Arnett, Davis, and Trochim inspire future generations to pursue their passions on the field.
