Exciting New Southern California Hotel & Entertainment Complex to Feature Stunning Rooftop Views!

On July 15, Ian Schrager’s new hotel, PUBLIC West Hollywood, will open where the iconic Standard Hotel once stood. This luxury hotel is ready to bring a fresh vibe to the Sunset Strip.

Once a hotspot for 90s Hollywood parties, this updated space at 8300 Sunset Boulevard now features a beautiful rooftop garden. Guests can enjoy Adirondack chairs, a cozy campfire, wellness classes, and outdoor movies.

Schrager aims to break the mold of luxury. He announced the absence of a celebrity chef or elaborate menu for the hotel’s signature restaurant, Louis. Instead, it will serve pastries and straightforward meals like sandwiches and grain bowls. For more casual bites, the Pool Bar will offer burgers and sundaes, while the Pool Deck provides salads and meze, as reported by Eater LA.

With the help of renowned chefs Shelley Armistead and Nicky Pickup, Schrager wants dining to be enjoyable without the pretension. The hotel boasts 137 rooms, a pool, and three dining venues, all surrounding a sprawling rooftop park.

The lobby, instead of being a traditional check-in area, will serve as a lively social hub. Guests will enter their rooms much like stepping into their own homes. No sterile front desks here—it’s all about community.

In another bold move, Schrager opted for no televisions. Instead of standard screens, rooms will feature giant 8 by 12-foot projection displays, powered by high-quality projectors. This shift aims to create a unique viewing experience while addressing past sound issues from the building’s time as The Standard.

The hotel does retain a nightclub, but expect a more sophisticated ambiance. As Schrager puts it, “It will be glamorous and immersive, providing a sound experience you can truly feel.”

Rates for a stay range from $500 to $600 a night, a typical price for luxury hotels in the area. It’s a fascinating shift from the loud parties of the past to a more refined approach to hospitality.

This transformation reflects a broader trend in the hotel industry—guests increasingly seek authentic experiences. According to a recent survey by Hospitality Net, 78% of travelers prefer hotels that prioritize community and well-being over extravagant amenities.

PUBLIC West Hollywood is set to redefine what a luxury stay means in Los Angeles. With its focus on simplicity and community, it represents a fresh chapter in a storied location.
