The CASD Summer Food Service Program is here to help! It offers free meals for kids and teens up to 18 years old. No need to sign up in advance. Starting on June 8 and running through the end of July, meals will be available from Monday to Thursday. Each child can get one breakfast and one lunch daily.
There are two ways to access these meals:
Option 1: Community Walk-Up Locations
Families can visit any of the five community walk-up sites during meal times. Just look for signs and the CASD box truck.
- Memorial Park, 1 Washabaugh Way: 11:00–11:15 a.m.
- Mill Creek Acres Park, 300 Eisenhower Drive: 11:00–11:15 a.m.
- Housing Authority, 436 W. Washington Avenue: Breakfast 8:15–8:30 a.m.; Lunch 11:30–11:50 a.m.
- Nicholson Square Park, Chambersburg, PA 17201: 12:00–12:15 p.m.
- Mike Waters Park, South 2nd Street: 12:15–12:30 p.m.
Option 2: Pre-Order Pick-Up Sites
For those who prefer, there are three pre-order pick-up locations. Children ages 0–18 can get breakfast and lunch by pre-ordering through Google Forms each day. Pre-orders begin on June 4, and need to be submitted by 6:00 a.m. on the pick-up day.
Pre-order pick-up locations will be open Monday to Thursday from 11:00–11:30 a.m.
- Lurgan Elementary, 8888 Roxbury Road, Lurgan, PA 17232
- Falling Spring Elementary, 1006 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202
- Teens & Greens, 3015 Molly Pitcher Highway, Chambersburg, PA 17202
Meals can be taken off-site and given to parents or guardians. This means kids can enjoy their meals wherever they choose. Check out the menu for all locations here.
This program is vital, especially considering recent statistics showing that food insecurity affects 1 in 6 children in the U.S. during the summer months when school meals are not available. The CASD program helps bridge that gap, offering nutritious meals and a social gathering place for kids.
