Dog owners, take note! There’s a recall affecting a specific pet food product.
Blue Ridge Beef is recalling thousands of 2 lb Natural Mix logs. This action came after salmonella was detected in samples tested by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.
The recall was announced on January 31. If you bought this product between January 3 and January 24, you should check your freezer. The logs come packaged in a clear, log-shaped container and can be used as a meal base or topper for dogs. The ingredients include beef, green tripe, beef heart, and beef liver.
Look for Lot # N25/12/31 and UPC# 854298001054 on the package. It’s important to store these logs in the freezer and thaw them in the refrigerator before serving to your dog.
About 5,700 pounds of this product are being recalled across several states, including Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Tennessee, and Rhode Island.
The FDA has warned that both pets and humans may be at risk. It’s crucial to wash your hands after handling the product. If someone experiences symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or fever after handling the food, they should consult a healthcare provider.
Pet owners, if your dog shows signs of illness, such as lethargy, diarrhea, or vomiting, contact your vet immediately. Some pets might appear healthy but can still carry the bacteria.
Please return the recalled food to the store where you purchased it or dispose of it safely to prevent any accidents involving children or animals.
