Initially, the company planned to release the game in early November, but this was pushed back to March 2025. However, it became clear that they couldn’t meet the quality standards they aimed for.
In a statement, Sports Interactive shared that after thorough discussions with their partner, Sega, they decided it was best not to move forward with this edition. They acknowledged facing many unexpected challenges that prevented them from reaching their goals for the game.
Football Manager has been a significant player in the football video game world for over twenty years. Unlike the popular EAFC series that focuses on direct control during matches, Football Manager allows players to step into the shoes of a real football manager. Gamers get to make strategic decisions such as signing players, hiring coaching staff, and setting up tactics, while the game simulates the matches.
The series began in 1992 as Championship Manager. After parting ways with its original publisher in 2004, Sports Interactive rebranded it as Football Manager under Sega’s name, releasing the first version in 2005. Since then, it has become an annual fixture, with the 2024 edition boasting around seven million players, marking its highest popularity yet.
