IIIT-Dharwad Convocation 2023: Inspiring Graduates to Drive Viksit Bharat Forward – The Times of India

Dharwad: At the eighth convocation of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Dharwad, IIT Delhi director Rangan Banerjee encouraged graduates to align their careers with India’s growth. He celebrated the rapid digital transformation that India is experiencing, driven by the skills and creativity of its young people.

Banerjee pointed out that advancements in technology have significantly changed sectors like banking, online shopping, and ticketing. This progress shows how capable young engineers and professionals are. He urged students to consider how they can contribute to national development and plan their careers to match the country’s goals.

During the ceremony, standout students were recognized for their achievements. Shiva Shankar B, who achieved a remarkable Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 9.93, received the President of India Gold Medal. Others, like Aditya Raj and Srijan Shukla, received Institute Gold Medals for their CPIs of 9.84. Awards also went to students like Shete Rinchal Sachin, recognized as the Best Outgoing Girl Student.

In total, 253 students graduated with BTech degrees and two earned MTech degrees. The breakdown included 136 in Computer Science and Engineering, 66 in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and 51 in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi spoke on the importance of students’ roles in nation-building. He highlighted India’s achievements in technology, such as in space exploration and vaccine development. With a growing number of skilled professionals and institutions like IIIT-Dharwad, he expressed optimism about India reaching its vision of a developed nation by 2047.

Jalaj Dani, Chairman of the Board of Governors, reminded graduates that hard work and confidence are key to success in a competitive world. Meanwhile, IIIT-Dharwad director Prof. Mahadev Prasanna shared insights into the institute’s academic successes.

As India continues to evolve digitally, graduates like these will play a crucial role in shaping the future. The trends reflect a society increasingly reliant on tech innovations, and young minds will be at the forefront of this change.
