APPLETON (WLUK) – Appleton is looking to partner with Wisconsin Entertainment Group LLC to bring back the fun surrounding the Independence Day fireworks at Memorial Park.
For many years, the Appleton Jaycees hosted a festival with food, music, and local vendors. However, in 2023, they stepped down, and last year there were no additional events alongside the fireworks on July 3. To find a new organizer, the city put out a request for proposals and received two bids.
The Parks and Recreation Director, Dean Gazza, shared that Wisconsin Entertainment Group received a score of 66.50, while the other bidder, Compassionate Home Health Care Inc., scored just 27.17.
Gazza emphasized that the evaluation team strongly supports choosing Wisconsin Entertainment Group. They propose a three-year agreement with possible two-year extensions to manage the Independence Day Celebration.
Wisconsin Entertainment Group aims to provide a smooth and successful event experience. They have a history of organizing various events, including the Fox Cities Experience in Menasha. The team prides itself on handling every detail, ensuring that gatherings are memorable.
The Parks and Recreation Committee will review this proposal on Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, located at 100 N. Appleton Street.
