Sabrina Carpenter recently secured a temporary restraining order against a man named William Applegate, who she claims has been stalking her. According to her statement, Applegate showed up at her home without permission multiple times and even tried to break in. During one alarming incident, he allegedly bypassed her security to approach her front door, pushing down on the handle and refusing to leave until police arrived.
Sabrina described Applegate’s repeated visits as terrifying and pointed out that his claims of knowing her were completely false. She mentioned he returned less than a day after trying to break in, spending hours loitering outside her home and watching her movements.
Feeling unsafe, she included video evidence from her security camera and asked the court to protect also her sister and housemates. A judge agreed, requiring Applegate to stay at least 100 yards away from Sabrina, her residence, and her workplace.
“This behavior isn’t accidental; it’s intentional stalking,” she stated. Sabrina highlighted that Applegate’s actions were some of the most invasive violations of her personal safety she had ever faced.
An LAPD detective, Peter Doomanis, backed her concerns, noting that Applegate’s behavior shows classic signs of fixation. He indicated that such patterns are well-known indicators of increasing danger to the victim.
Recent statistics reveal that stalking remains a significant issue, with nearly 1 in 6 women and 1 in 17 men experiencing stalking during their lives. Awareness and preventive measures are crucial, especially in Hollywood, where many public figures often face similar challenges.
