India is taking a major step to strengthen its airpower by moving forward with a proposal to acquire 114 Rafale fighter jets from France. This deal, expected to be worth around Rs. 3.25 lakh crore, could be the biggest defense agreement of the decade. Currently, the Indian Air Force operates 29 squadrons, far fewer than the authorized strength of 42.5. Adding these 114 Rafale jets will significantly enhance its operational capacity.
