If you’re a small business, nonprofit, or worker impacted by the recent Eaton and Palisades fires, there’s help available. New financial aid has been launched just for you.
This funding initiative is a collaboration among Los Angeles County, the City of Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department, and the Department of Economic Opportunity. Applications are now open online and will stay open until February 24.
The small business fund offers support between $2,000 and $25,000 for those who’ve faced revenue loss, damage to their buildings, or loss of inventory. To qualify, your business needs to have an annual revenue of $6 million or less and fewer than 100 employees. The focus will be on businesses that were completely destroyed first, followed by those with partial damage or loss.
For workers, the Worker Relief fund can provide at least $2,000 in direct assistance. This aid is for those who lost their job or saw a significant drop in wages due to the fires. To qualify, you must have been working or self-employed in Los Angeles County when the fires started on January 7.
The priority goes to those who lost their jobs entirely, followed by those who faced temporary layoffs or reductions in hours.
